Lincoln Park Business Group
The Lincoln Park district has a rich heritage of development dating back to the 1850’s. Originally Lincoln Park was primarily an industrial area with a few scattered retail establishments. As time went on, the area became more of a retail destination point. With the coming of bigger box stores located in the miller hill area, Lincoln Park’s retail establishments suffered an economic downturn. Many of the stores either closed or moved over the hill.
It was around this time in the 1930’s, that the Lincoln Park Business Group (“LPBG”), formerly known as the West End Business and Civic Club started.
Keeping businesses connected.
Creating a community that works.
✔ Networking ✔ Advocacy ✔Area Marketing ✔ Special Events ✔ Cleaning & Safety
The goal of this group was to support the Lincoln Park area – its businesses, and the community overall. The name was changed to the “Lincoln Park Business Group” in the early 1990’s, to have a feeling of ‘change’ for the Lincoln Park neighborhood. And over the years there have been many hard working volunteers that have kept the LPBG going—the Board of Directors, and committee members.
These last several years we have seen a revitalization of Lincoln Park area that has people talking, in Duluth and throughout Minnesota. We are having more businesses move into the Lincoln Park area, because they are feeling the energy and excitement that’s happening here. We are locally made, locally grown and locally created businesses that all provide unique energy and personality to our area! If you eat at OMC Smokehouse, or Corktown Deli, or Love Creamery, or shop at Frost River, you can see and feel that energy.
So what does the Lincoln Park Business Group do? The Mission of the LPBG is “to lead and promote the revitalization of Lincoln Park through business, economic, and community development”. Recently we have developed the corner “Park” on the corner of 19th Avenue West and Superior Street. We also were responsible for the mural on the building on 20th Avenue West and Superior Street that Adam Swanson created. We also get involved in local topics such as the MnDOT exchange and the Superior Street Reconstruction project.
Our CORE VALUES are:
1. We are VISIONARY: We work together to develop and share a positive, unique, and creative vision for the future of the Lincoln Park Business community.
2. We are STRATEGIC: We align decisions we make with our vision and take necessary steps to promote that, by considering all the available information before making decisions.
